Coco Chanel

19th August, 1883 (Saumur, France) – 10th January, 1971 (Paris, France)

Our Deluxe Suite, named after the French stylist Coco Chanel, is reflected in the details and feminine energy present in the suite.

Its color palette is also represented in this hotel room with a balcony and a bathtub overlooking the Douro: black (a color that represents the essential), white (the lighting and the enhancement of beauty), gold (the brightness and baroque art, in which one was inspired), beige (element of neutrality); and, finally, red (color of life, blood, passion and courage).

The elements and geometric shapes associated with Coco Chanel are also represented in this Deluxe Suite, with a double or twin bed.

The curtains, with white and black lines, the large mirror, with a black wooden frame and golden elements, the bust, for sewing tests and the armchair, with classic and organic lines were the elements chosen to honor the illustrious French stylist in our boutique hotel.

Our Suite Coco Chanel also has a bathtub inside the room, overlooking the Douro.

Coco Chanel - Torel Avantgarde

As a surrealist in the 1930s, he created truly innovative sculptural forms, which sometimes resembled toys and games. As an existentialist, after the war he led the way in creating a style that epitomized philosophy’s interests in perception, alienation, and anxiety. He is remembered for his figurative work, which helped make the suffering human figure motif a popular symbol of post-war trauma.

Some of his Main Works:

Tall Figure
Spoon Woman
The Palace at 4 AM

Artistic Movements: Expressionism, Contemporary Art, Surrealism, Cubism, Modern Art.

“It is impossible to do a thing the way I see it because the closer I get the more differently I see.” – Alberto Giacometti
