The Concept
A bold hotel project where art takes center stage. Nothing here is by chance – every detail is a reflection of our passion for meaningful expression
"Art is not what you see, but what you make others see."
Edgar Degas
Torel Avantgarde isn’t just a hotel – it’s a canvas where imagination meets reality. Inspired by Portugal’s bold creative spirit, we’ve crafted a space where art takes the lead, inviting you to break away from the ordinary. From every corner, stories unfold – vivid, daring, and unexpected – reflecting the avant-garde essence that fuels our identity. Here, the past doesn’t linger, it evolves, guiding you into new realms of artistic expression.
Isabel Sá Nogueira and Nano Design
The creation of this beautiful work of art is the result of the combined talents of prestigious Portuguese artists, artisans, and interior designers. Their collective expertise has transformed the space into a stunning representation of contemporary design.
The vibrant interior design is led by Isabel Sá Nogueira and Nano Design, whose vision defines the hotel’s aesthetic. Alongside them, other collaborating artists have infused their unique perspectives, enriching the overall experience and reinforcing the hotel’s status as Porto’s premier luxury boutique destination.
With art as a central theme, every corner of our hotel invites travelers to embark on a cultural and artistic journey. This immersive moment is woven throughout the space, ensuring that each guest leaves with a lasting impression of creativity and elegance.
Common Areas
Latoaria Ponte Rol was the company that supplied the low tables in the flower room and restaurant, as well as the outdoor lighting, on the balcony and the seating area in the bar. The mattresses are from Persono; the carpets in the Bar, corridors, and stairs are from Santos Monteiro, Lda., and the flowers in the flower room are from the Espaço Casa store.
The common areas, namely the reception and the flower room, are the most fearless and provocative spaces. This is a deliberate choice that allows the Portugalidade of this hotel to resonate boldly.
Art & Design
Jorge Curval, a visual artist, is the author of the paintings for the rooms and main staircase, as well as the iron pieces on the facade and exterior of the Hotel.
From the Branca Lisboa brand, designer Marco Sousa Santos was responsible for the furniture in the flower room, as well as the black chairs at the reception.
From Mood, designer Raul Santos took care of all the lighting, made the lamps – bottles and black floor lamps in the reception – and designed the wall and bar lighting in the restaurant.
From the Around The Tree brand, designer Alexandre Caldas was responsible for the chairs and tables in the restaurant and terraces, as well as the desk chair at reception.
