Piet Mondrian was represented in his own Cubism, in our boutique hotel Torel Avantgarde.
We reserved a room with a balcony for the artist and we created a geometric space with the elements that Mondrian used in his paintings.
The yellow chair and the large blue sculpture are two references to the primary colors used by the artist; while the bedside tables are rectangular – an allusion to the geometric shapes he used in his paintings.

About The Artist...
Pieter Cornelis "Piet" Mondrian, One Of The Founders Of The Dutch Modern Movement “De Stijl”, Was Recognized For The Purity Of His Abstractions And The Methodical Practice By Which He Arrived At Them.
He radically simplified the elements of his paintings, creating an objective and universal aesthetic language in his canvases.
As a pillar of his art resided a utopia of a religious and esoteric nature, which defended that underneath the matter lay something very basic, which would constitute the true essence.
The use of asymmetrical balance and a simplified pictorial vocabulary were crucial in the development of modern art.
